I’M NEW TO THE STUDIO

On your first visit to YBS, arrive 15mins before the commencement of the class so there is time to complete your New Student form and to meet and discuss with your teacher any concerns you might have, including injuries.  Your teacher can further explain the flow of the session.

I HAVE NEVER DONE YOGA BEFORE. I AM NOT VERY FLEXIBLE. I AM NOT VERY FIT.

Every student starts from where they are and every student is encouraged to work within their own level of capability

DO I HAVE TO BOOK ONLINE?

With class numbers limited you do need to book into the classes that you will be attending.  If you have not booked into a class
prior to attending, you may find that the class is full and may not have room to participate in the class.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ATTEND THE CLASSES?

As we are a boutique studio our classes are small, we have up to 12 students in the class. When you are on the booking page you will see how many spaces are available for each class.

WHAT DO I WEAR TO CLASS?

Wear something that is comfortable that enables you to move and stretch freely.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?

All mats and props are supplied, but feel free to bring your own mat if you wish. Please bring your own water. and maybe socks to keep your feet warm in the cooler months.

WHAT KINDS OF CLASSES DO YOU TEACH?

  • We offer floor Pilates, using small equipment such as rings, hand weights and balls to enhance to experience.  

  • We also offer general yoga and yin yoga, suitable for beginners.  

  • Restorative yoga is also taught at YBS, using bolsters, weighted blankets, cushions, eye pillows and soft hand weights.  This is a very gentle class, designed to rest and restore your nervous system. Please note that there is very little movement of the body and we may spend 20mins in a pose supported completely by the props.

  • Meditation is offered at the end of every session where you can lie on your mat and relax your body and soften the breath.  This meditation is a mindful guided practice supporting those who struggling to settle their busy mind

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOGA AND PILATES?

  • Pilates aims to improve your postural alignment and strengthen your core using
         specific exercises and breath techniques.

  • Yoga is a system of exercises supporting mental and physical health. Through postures, movement, breath awareness, yoga cultivates a sense of wellbeing

STUDIO ETIQUETTE

Mobile phones must be switched to ‘SILENT’ and placed in your bag before entering the yoga room.  If you have a situation that requires your phone to be with you then please let the teacher know before the class begins. If you are using a wrist monitor for exercising, please ensure that this is also switched to silent.

WHAT IF I’M LATE ARRIVING?

Please try and ensure that you allow enough time to arrive at the studio before the class begins.  Upon commencement of the class, the studio doors will be locked for security purposes. If you know that you are going to be several minutes late, then please notify us on 0414553364 and the door will be left unlocked until you arrive. We understand that sometimes arriving late is outside of your control but if you are more than 10mins late for a class, it is advisable that you miss this session.

WHAT IF I HAVE TO LEAVE EARLY?

Should you need to leave class before the session finishes, please let your teacher know ahead of time.  Ensure that when you leave there is minimal disruption to the rest of the students.

IF I HAVE A SLIGHT COUGH IS IT STILL OK TO COME TO A CLASS?

If you are feeling unwell in any way, please be respectful of other students and stay at home until you are feeling better.
