Yoga v’s Pilates

One of the most obvious similarities between Pilates and Yoga is that they are both body/mind disciplines. The
intent of both is to bring the body and mind together in a way that enhances awareness and elevates the overall life experience of the student.

Overall, the biggest difference between Pilates and Yoga is the ultimate goal. Yoga provides a meditative environment for you to improve your overall quality of life. It focuses on stress relief while improving your body.

Pilates works from the center of your body outward. It forces you to increases your body awareness and work from your core, resulting in a stronger body. Yoga and Pilates each have their merits. The best part is that you really don’t have to choose. Combine Pilates with Yoga for an amazing way to transform your daily routine.

Qi Gong Shibashi 18 Movements

Qi Gong Beginners workshop

At Your Breathing Space we offer 4 week training courses on the practice of Shibashi Qi Gong. The course is generally delivered in Spring/Summer and if the demand is there, we can offer ongoing classes.

Qi Gong is a Chinese system of breathing exercises, body postures and movements, and mental concentration, intended to maintain good health and control the flow of vital energy. Designed to benefit both physical and mental health.

It’s a form of meditation, a moving meditation, and great for people who find it difficult to sit/lie in stillness. The breath lends the movements and creates a real mind body connection. Visually it’s a gentle flowing practice, but don’t be fooled by the gentle nature, your legs will certainly feel as if they have worked in the days after.
